Jones College enrollment breaks records

Jones College is breaking records with enrollment increasing by 12%. With over 5,000 students, the college is leading the state in enrollment growth.

Enrollment has not increased by more than 5,000 in the last 15 years, but this fall semester, Jones recorded 5,057 students.

Programs at Jones have also had an increase in number. In the Career and Technical program specifically, there was a 3.5 % increase. Additionally, the Pharmacy Technician program had the highest increase with 55.6%. Also transitioning to online this year is the Childcare Technology Program which saw a 14% increase in enrollment. Growing nearly 30% this fall, was the Automotive and EMT programs. The new Farm Ranch Management program has almost doubled in enrollment since its first year as well.

“The growth we’re experiencing has brought incredible momentum to campus life and to our community as a whole,” said Vice president of Enrollment Management Amanda McLeod. “More students on campus means more energy, more engagement and more opportunities to expand programs and invest in student success.”

Located in the heart of Ellisville, Mississippi, Jones offers associate degrees students can obtain within two years. Jones College has a reputation of being warm and welcoming, including its faculty.

“I love getting to meet new students, finding new ways for students to succeed and showing them what career paths are out there for them,” said Jailn Eldridge, Jones recruiter.

As a whole, the state’s community colleges’ enrollment numbers have grown by 5.3 %. Jones College made the top of that list. Over the last few years, Jones has accommodated its students by bringing in new programs and redefining the old.
