Jones College has been home to hundreds of thousands of students over the last century. From high-end careers to dedicating their time for service, the alumni have embodied the values and excellence that stands for Jones College.
Mackenzie Morgan, who works in the campus bookstore, is a Class of 2019 Jones graduate. The Richton native was a part of Phi Theta Kappa and the Student Government Association.
“The atmosphere of Jones College is a friendly, kind environment,” said Morgan.
“The teachers are supportive and very helpful. It really helped me come out of my shell.”
Morgan describes her experience at Jones as enjoyable and amazing. She suggests Jones to future students due to the family-oriented atmosphere. The thing that stood out to Morgan the most was how supportive and helpful the students and teachers are on campus.
Faith Palmer, from Brandon, is a part of the Jones College Class of 2021 and was also a part of PTK and the SGA. She describes Jones as a friendly, welcoming environment.
“I’ll never forget the kindness I experienced while being a student,” Palmer said. “If you ever have a problem, someone is always available to help.”
She said the campus felt close knit and more like a community instead of a school. Palmer’s favorite part of Jones was the fried chicken days in the cafeteria. She said that Jones helped prepare her academically to proceed with her education.
“The personal attention from instructors, and the opportunities to get involved taught me how important it is to support and invest in others, something I carry with me as a school counselor,” said the Northwest Rankin High School counselor.
Cheyan Smith, from Mize, was a part of the Emergency Medical Technician program. She said that her experience at Jones was great.
“My favorite part about Jones was the people I met along the way and the friendships I made,” she said.
Smith suggests Jones due to its atmosphere. One thing that stood out the most to her was all the prosthetics for the healthcare program and how prepared and professional the program was. Smith said that Jones helped her prepare for the medical field by giving her the confidence and knowledge to get through the EMT program and into her career after graduation.
Smith now is employed at the Hol-Mac Corporation in Bay Springs, Mississippi.
